Responsible Gambling: Setting a Limit Before It Matters
Gambling is entertainment with a price attached, and the price is the money you lose. That is the arithmetic. A casino that tells you otherwise is not being straight with you, and we would rather you played within a limit you set than chased one you did not.
The tools in every account
- Deposit limits — daily, weekly or monthly. A tightening takes effect immediately; a loosening waits out a cooling-off period, deliberately.
- Session reminders — a clock that interrupts play at an interval you choose.
- Time-out — a short break, from 24 hours to several weeks, with the account frozen and the balance untouched.
- Self-exclusion — a long block. It cannot be reversed early by asking nicely, which is the entire point of it.
All four are set from the responsible-play panel in the account, and support will apply any of them on request if you would rather not do it yourself. Nobody is talked out of a limit. The chat team is instructed not to try.
Signs worth taking seriously
Chasing losses. Depositing money set aside for something else. Hiding the amount you play from people close to you. Playing to escape rather than to enjoy. Borrowing to fund a session. None of these is a moral failing and all of them are worth acting on early, when a deposit limit is still enough of an answer.
Free, confidential help in Australia
- Gambling Help Online — 1800 858 858, 24 hours a day, free and confidential.
- Lifeline — 13 11 14, for crisis support at any hour.
- Gamblers Anonymous — peer support groups across the country.

These services are independent of us. They cost nothing, they do not report back to the casino, and they will talk to a family member as readily as to a player.
What a limit actually does
A deposit cap is not a suggestion the cashier can be talked out of. Once it is set, a deposit above it is refused at the moment of payment — there is no override, no support exception and no "just this once". That is the whole value of setting one on a calm evening: the version of you who sets it is the one making the decision, not the version chasing a loss at two in the morning.
The asymmetry is deliberate too. Tightening a limit is instant; loosening one waits. If it worked the other way round, the tool would protect nobody, because the moment it mattered it would be a single click away from being switched off.
Under-18s
Accounts are for adults only. Identity is verified, and an account opened by a minor is closed with the deposits returned. If a young person has access to your device, use the parental controls your operating system already provides, keep payment details out of a shared browser, and consider blocking software if gambling sites need to be off the machine entirely.
